Matter Platform Connected Devices
We may, at some point, permit Hunter smart products to connect to the Matter Platform. If you are using a Hunter product that is connected to the Matter Platform, the following applies regarding data privacy and use by Hunter.

What is “Matter”?
Matter is a new smart home interoperability standard designed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance to provide a common language for connected devices to communicate locally in your home without relying on a cloud connection. It is built to be secure and private, easy to set up, and widely compatible.

Developed by Apple, Amazon, Google, and Samsung (and others), Matter is an open-sourced, IP-based connectivity software layer for smart home devices. It works over Wi-Fi, ethernet, and the low-power mesh networking protocol Thread and currently supports over 20 device types. These include lighting, plugs and switches, thermostats, locks, security and environment sensors, refrigerators, dishwashers, smoke alarms, air quality monitors, fan controls, and more.

A smart home gadget with the Matter logo can be set up and used with any Matter-compatible ecosystem via a Matter controller and controlled by them simultaneously, a feature called multi-admin.

Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and Apple Home are some of the major smart home platforms that support Matter, along with hundreds of device manufacturers.

Your use of the Matter standard and connected devices is governed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance and its privacy policies and practices and terms of service, which should be available to you on the Matter app you use to control Matter-Connected devices. Hunter is not responsible for the CSA privacy practices or terms of service.

How Does Hunter Use Your Personal Data With Matter-Connected Products

Hunter uses this information to provide you with the services you purchased and to communicate with you about the product and other Hunter products and services. We do not sell this information to third parties for marketing purposes but, due to the nature of the Matter-Connected platform, information about your use of the Hunter Fan product is shared with other Matter-Connected devices on your network. To the extent your Hunter Fan device is interacting with other Matter-Connected products on your network, how your personal data is used by those devices is covered by the privacy policies of those companies and not Hunter. Hunter accepts no responsibility for, and you agree it is not responsibility for, non-Hunter Fan products or the actions/inactions of the companies that provide said products.
